BRQG Meeting March 10, 2015

At the March 10th meeting, members brought fabrics and cut them into nickel squares (5″ squares) and then we all went around the room and collected whatever squares we wanted from each table !! There were no requirements to make a project and bring it back, just the joy of sharing fabrics with friends. It will be interesting to see where and how they show up in future Show & Tells.

After Show & Tell, those who had their Mystery Row Quilt, Row 2 came to the front for a group showing. More folks were up front than were seated – way to go, ladies ! Kathy Wickham introduced instructions for the BRQG 2015 Mystery Row Quilt, Row 3, instructions for which are nearby. Click on the image to enlarge and print.

Next month’s program will be about machine maintenance, always an important topic. Be sure to attend.

Carol Z and Loretta T asked Kathy Wickham for permission to take the floor and bring before the membership a request to consider a more organized guild. Since our group was begun in 2000, whoever took the podium stayed until they burned out, then some other brave soul would step forward. It is our thinking that if the guild has defined offices and terms of office, it will eliminate the sense of burden and burnout for those in the front of the room. After the program next month, a discussion will be held with members concerning the adoption of By-Laws and general organization, i.e. future plans for election of officers, etc. You won’t want to miss that meeting ! By-Laws of both Star Quilters and Lake Quilters will be emailed to all members for perusal and suggestions for creating the BRQG By-Laws.

CORRECTION TO ROW #3 DIRECTIONS

Library Display Case, March 3, 2015

Each year, the Blue Ridge Quilt Guild participates in decorating the display case at Blue Ridge Library during National Quilting Month. Items included are projects the guild has made, news articles about the guild, as well as small decorative sewing/quilting related items, publications, etc. This year March 3rd was chosen to decorate the display case. Stop by and enjoy those items contributed by members. Afterward, we lunched at Wendy’s and talked and laughed and generally had a very good morning.

Oh, and it is not too late to have something of yours included in the display !! There is always room. Just let Loretta T, Carol Z or Jo B know. Pictures nearby.
