On Saturday, June 1st, the Blue Ridge Quilters embarked on a field trip to Boone’s Country Store, The Homestead Creamery and CS Threadz. There was a great turnout of 13 members and friends who attended. Unfortunately I did not think to bring out the camera until we got to CS Threadz, but I did get some pretty good shots of the goings-on.
We gathered at Boone’s Country Store at 10:00 a.m. and did some serious shopping; they have a great selection of quilting cotton fabrics and a large selection of extra wide backing fabrics, as well as batting. Oh, and don’t overlook the baked/canned/prepared food goods ! At the Homestead Creamery, we had a tasty lunch and looked around at their wares. No one got ice cream, though, because we were on our way to CS Threadz just a ways up the road. When we got there, we found a good selection of quilting cottons, notions, templates, patterns, and various other items. They carry Quilters Select rulers and we were given an introduction to the Quilters Select rotary cutter, which is somewhat different than other cutters. Check out www.thequitshow.com for more information. CS Threadz is an authorized dealer for Martelli longarm machines, made in Florida, and we were treated to a demonstration and given the opportunity to do a hands-on trial. Several ladies who had not previously operated a longarm took advantage of the offer; those not shown below were Tina Dietz and Janice Moody. At around 3:00 p.m. we were all shopped out and went our separate ways home with our treasures.
For the June meeting, remember to bring 3 fat quarters for Game Night ! See you there.
