October 11 2016 Meeting

Kathy Woods opened the October meeting. She had received promotional materials from a new company called Pineapple Fabrics. Kathy showed the various patterns the company offers and distributed handouts. We all received a fat quarter or a pattern. There was a drawing for a “Carla Pack” of fabric and Carol Dillman was the lucky winner.

The next Board Meeting will be Tuesday, Oct. 18th at 6 pm at the Library. Everyone is invited to attend.

Kathy Wickham asked those participating in the BOM to come up and show the blocks introduced last month by Tina Dietz. The results were stunning.022.JPG Next, Carol Dillman presented the final two blocks to be completed and displayed at our November Meeting.023.JPG

Going forward – November’s meeting is still a mystery.
December is our Chirstmas Party. Bring a dessert to share as well as one yard of fabric ( 4 fat quarters, 2 1/2 yards or any other configuation that equals one yard). Wrap you fabric in holiday paper and bring it to the meeting for our Secret Santa Fabric Exchange.
January will be a meeting all about organizing your fabric scraps. Tina asked that everyone bring some scraps for a “brown bag scrap exchange” as part of this meeting. More information will follow.
Upcoming – Gerry from Quilted Expressions will give a program on Sewing Machine Maintenance.
April – Gail Mayhew, who teached at Quilted Essentials in Salem will be our presenter.

Kathy Wickham reminded everyone of the Star Quilters Quilt Show at the Berglund Center on March 24 & 25th. She also told us about the quilt show at Moutain View United Methodist Church in Forest which benefits those coping with cancer. She also invited anyone interested to a Thanksgiving banquet being held at her church on Nov. 5th at 5 pm at Rockingham Court United Methodist Church. Let Kathy know if you wish to attend.

Show and Tell followed and Ann took lots of pictures. Scroll down to see all the beautiful projects completed by our members.

Tina Dietz gave a short program on “Regretsy” or things you bought and shouldn’t have. Tina showed several items she regrets buying and Janice Taylor showed a few items on her regrets list. Kathy Wickham added her regret “Too Many Ideas – Not Enough Time”. We can all agree on that !! Tina also asked for help pin basting two charity quilts. A few more charity quilts were completed and shown during Show and Tell. Orphan Blocks were available for others to participate in making a quilt top for our Charity Quilt project. We will try to have another date at the library to complete the 20 quilts requested by Woodhaven Nursing Home. The goal is to have these ready before Christmas.
